Welcome! eCommerce Expert was built to scratch our own itch – finding and hiring vetted, trained eCommerce staff for our own eCommerce store.

Yes, there are hundreds of job marketplaces with thousands of candidates listed with eCommerce experience, but we could never find employees who weren’t gaming the 5-star system or whose resumes really checked out as true. Posting a job usually meant getting inundated with spam letters and constant harassment from offshore agencies.

There has to be a better way! So, we made a directory that only lists individuals with eCommerce experience.

In fact, eCommerce Expert is actually the end point for our eCommerce training programme called eCommerce University. Hundreds of students are learning how to become a better eCommerce Virtual Assistant, Copywriter, Store Manager, Customer Service Rep and Graphic Designer. When a student finishes the training and graduates they are added to eCommerce Expert.

For Employers

How can I pay employees?

To start with, ask candidates how they prefer to be paid! Most online workers will already have an active payment account and will tell you their preferred method. Also, it’s usually listed in their profile.

Paypal

Depending on where they live, their preferred payment method is usually Paypal. You simply need to ask them for their Paypal email address and then you’ll be able to transfer money from your Paypal account into their Paypal account.

Bank Transfers

Bank Transfers can also be arranged but these are usually slow and expensive. The money is routed through the SWIFT system and, in our experience, intermediary banks will take a fee for the transfer. You can lose between $25 and $75 in every transfer.

Skrill

In our business we use Skrill for making payments to employees in Africa and Europe where Paypal is not as prevalent. You ‘load’ your Skrill account from your bank account. There is no fee for loading money from one to other if you choose the regular transfer method.

Others

There are other payment systems such as Payoneer (you need to make large payments), Western Union (expensive), and mobile wallet M-Pesa (good for African countries).

Upwork

In the past, we have used Upwork to make easy, short-term payments for a new hire. You can think of Upwork as a banking system instead of a recruitment marketplace and use their system simply for that purpose. If the candidate already has an Upwork account then you can make payment via Upwork, but it’s an expensive option. Payment is made via your credit card.

How much does it cost to find and hire an employee?

To get access to any employee’s contact details we charge a flat monthly fee. When you join eCommerce Expert you’ll be able to view and contact all candidates who are listed in the directory. Unlimited.

There is no mark-up or ongoing fee associated with the employee’s cost. As soon as you have access to the candidate’s contact details you can negotiate payment rates and terms.

As soon as you cancel your subscription, then we stop billing, and you lose access to new candidates as they are added to the pool.

You can pay for one month of access. As soon as you’ve found your perfect employee then cancel your subscription.

Do you offer refunds if I can’t find someone to hire?

Yes. We offer enough information for you to make a decision as to whether you would like to hire a candidate. The cost reveals their contact details which would usually be your last step to determine whether you hire.

Of course, there are always exceptions and we’re a friendly bunch of people so just get in touch via our contact page if you would like to discuss.

Can I pay you to find someone for me?

Yes. We can help you search the directory and find a good match. eCommerce Expert was built to scratch our own itch – finding vetted, trained eCommerce staff for our own store. As such, we find it easier to put people through an eCommerce training programme and then have their resumes listed in a directory categorised by their job interest.

However, we take our time to get to know the candidates’ employment histories, training paths, course transcripts and more. Reach out and we can often recommend several candidates that you could interview based on your business’ needs.

How can I create an account and submit my resume?

Anyone with eCommerce expertise can create an employee account. This directory is open to everyone, not just graduates of eCommerce University. Submit your resume and we’ll check it out. Once approved, you’ll be able to apply for listed jobs.

I want to get a job. How much does it cost?

There is no cost if you are an employee who is seeking a job. Employers pay to get access to your contact details.

Can you provide a job for me?

No. eCommerce Expert is an online directory of vetted freelancers with specific eCommerce expertise, not a recruitment agency. We are an online marketplace where we list job opportunities for employees.

How do I get hired?

First impression lasts, so let your resume do the talking 🙂 Though we are here to assist you in making a high-quality profile, the content will always depend on you. Your resume should be compelling, should be easy to read, consistent and focus on skills that you can use in an eCommerce business.

How is eCommerce Expert different from other job marketplaces?

Most of the candidates listed in eCommerce Expert have graduated from eCommerce University. This is a specialised training programme that we have created based on our own store’s knowledge base. You can learn more about eCommerce University here.

We promote eCommerce University graduates to employers but once the employer contacts you for a job/project, we are out of the picture.

We do not get involved with any employee-employer contracts or negotiation. And we do not charge service fees if you get hired. All the money you make is yours to keep!

How do I get paid and how much?

This will be agreed upon between you and your employer. You can use this eCommerce Salary Guide as a starting point for your discussions.

Can I apply for multiple jobs?

Yes. You can apply for multiple jobs. Typically, when you’ve landed a job you’ll remove your application from any other job listings. This will help other employees have a chance at getting hired.
